Tata Curvv first look electric SUV concept car price launch date

Tata has recently launched the Safari and Harrier, and now the company is shifting its focus to the C-SUV segment. This segment is highly lucrative in India, with most carmakers except Mahindra, Jeep, and Tata having already introduced cars in this category.

Tata aims to enter this segment with its latest offering, the Tata Curvv, which will be available in both ICE and electric powertrains. While the exact specifications are yet to be revealed, it’s expected that the Curvv will feature a 50kWh or possibly a 60kWh battery pack, providing a real-world range of around 400km with improved aerodynamics and a lighter, more efficient motor.

This coupe SUV body style will be a unique offering in India. The car will sport LED DRLs across the front width to its ORVMs. The electric version of the Tata Curvv will not have a grille, while the ICE version will feature a chequered grille. Both variants will boast sharp design language with numerous cuts and creases, along with inverted L-shaped LED taillamps running the entire length of the tailgate.

Based on the Tata Motors X1 platform, which underpins the Tata Nexon, the Curvv’s platform has been re-engineered and stretched. It will have a wheelbase of 2600mm, longer than the Nexon’s 2498mm wheelbase, with a length of around 4.3 meters.

Inside, the Tata Curvv will feature a practical yet simple approach with a floating infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, a two-spoke steering wheel with media controls, touch-sensitive HVAC controls, a powered tailgate, and a panoramic sunroof.

The Curvv will be available in both EV and petrol variants, with the EV version launching first. The petrol variant will feature a direct-injection turbo-petrol engine in 1.2-liter and 1.5-liter capacities, while the diesel variant will be BS6 RDE emission norm-compliant. The ICE powertrain will include a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine with 168bhp and 280 Nm of torque, likely paired with a DCA gearbox and manual option.

The expected price of the Tata Curvv is around Rs. 10.5 lakhs, with a planned launch in April 2024 for the EV variant, followed by the ICE variant a few months later.

In conclusion, the Tata Curvv is poised to become a favorite in its segment, offering a balanced combination of features, performance, and affordability. With its aerodynamic design and impressive range, it aims to capture the market’s attention.
